Building Medical Education Skills and Community Outside UCSF
While UCSF has many rich opportunities, we encourage our clinician-educator faculty to seek external opportunities as well. These include education focused meetings as well as special societies that include education as part of their broader array of content. These opportunities not only allow for learning but also leadership opportunities as part of committees, and ways to meet external faculty who may be able to serve as a reference for promotion.

How to get the most out of your own specialty societies in medical education?
Many specialty societies have sub-groups dedicated to education. There are often opportunities to volunteer on committees, meet faculty from other institutions to collaborate, share ideas, and serve as references for promotion.
